” There are not enough thank yous for an awesome meet! I felt unprepared and frustrated upon arrival not having my envelope (was given to a teammate I’d never met) or heat sheets….
But that quickly went away with the printed sheets everywhere and with everyone’s willingness to help, from volunteers to fellow swimmers, to other team’s coaches!!!
We even got to deck enter at the VERY LAST SECOND….a relay race thanks to Gregg’s super fast efficiency!!!!! And we win it!!!
The food was incredible!! Super impressed with the list of ingredients in all the foods!! Your club truly did an amazing job to make everyone feel welcomed, safe and athletic!! THANK YOU 🙏🏻 THANK YOU 😊 THANK YOU “
January 2023 saw the return of what had been the longest-running annual swim meet in Ontario.
Margot Wheeler wrote an article for the Etobicoke Guardian about our celebration with the Teddy Bares’ founder, Ted Roach, of the Alderwood Teddy Bares 45th annual swim meet. Click here to read full pdf.
An article on our club swim meet was also published in the February 2020 of snapd.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the 44th Annual Alderwood Teddy Bares SCY swim meet a big success on January 20. Swimmers, Officials and Volunteers, Coaches, and Pool Staff; it all has to come together smoothly, and it did.
Despite some challenging weather only a few swimmers from well outside Toronto were unable to make it out for the competition. And the team from Norseman fielded what I believe is their largest ever contingent of competitors at our meet with 22 swimmers. Wow!
As usual there were plenty of record breaking swims including 7 new Ontario Records by members of our own team. Five of those records were from our relay teams. As well, Margot Wheeler and Janina Mikulicz took home individual Ontario Records. In total there were 28 Ontario Record swims at this year’s meet.
A special thank you also needs to go out to Brigitte Zirger from MSO who is always tremendously helpful in coordinating entries, records information and lots of other details. Brigitte had hoped to swim at the meet but decided that the drive from Ottawa was too difficult given the inclement weather on Saturday. I’ll have to have a word with the weatherman before next year’s 45th anniversary meet so that our out of town guests have an easier time of it in 2020.
